The Heating Ninja’s Story:

My journey to become The Heating Ninja started over 15 years ago when I started helping a friend with sheet metal work, unfortunately that adventure was short lived as I was injured on the job and was at a crossroads. Do I find another industry to work in or go to school for the trade I enjoyed? I didn’t think my journey in sheet metal was over, so I spent 4 years in school and graduated, receiving my red seal certificate in sheet metal. 

I then decided to seek out knowledge in the residential construction industry to open opportunities and gain experience. My first job in residential was installing furnaces and air conditioners, it was a unique experience and I had a steep learning curve to keep prepared for the HVAC industry.  

I had to learn building code and rules, city codes, and thousands of different types of units, it was daunting, but I stuck through, and even to this day I keep up with the new things of HVAC products.  

When I overcame the initial learning curve, I wanted to know more, so I moved into working in new home construction. An exciting world of home ventilation was opening before my eyes, but just as I was getting the hang of this new role the industry slowed down and found myself sub-contracting with 3 different mechanical companies. 

While working contract work for new home ventilation and furnace installs, I received a few tips over the holidays and thought it was a suitable time to purchase a trade name that was floating around in my head. Industry slowed down even more, and I was getting less and less work, but fortunately, I had some customers asking for HVAC help, so I used my last tip money to purchase a humidifier and installed it for them. I made $100 for that job and thought, why don’t I try to do that again! 

After installing 20 humidifiers I decided to use that money to purchase a corporation name and GST number, and in 2011 MD’s Industries was born! 

For a few years I was working in heating and ventilation as a contractor for a few companies, but soon enough I was getting enough calls that I thought I should strike out on my own. Word of mouth travels fast and MD’s Industries was getting a reputation for great service and good rates. Just for fun, I tried out the company name The Heating Ninja, but soon enough everyone I met loved the name…  

Here we are now, 10 years in…. 

The Heating Ninja is well established in Calgary and surrounding areas with customers impressed with our honest work, competitive prices, and great service. Our team of qualified service techs are paid hourly, so you know the work will be done right the first time.  

We specialize in heating and cooling for both residential and commercial. Providing HVAC services has become a passion and even though I am the owner, I still occasionally strap on the tools to do installs.

Matt(the owner) was quickly able to give me a multiple quotes on replacing my furnace, humidifier and thermostat —the pricing was better than other companies I received quotes from. Matt’s team did a great job with installation and explaining everything they did. After the installation I noticed some whistling noise coming from the furnace, so Matt quickly sent someone (Zak) to fix the issue and he also kindly answered a bunch of misc. questions I had as well. First impression, service oriented 100%! Our furnace stopped working tonight, googled nearest furnace service and so glad to have found Matt at Heating Ninja. Why I’m taking the time to write a review is because Matt is truly all about helping people out, very professional. After asking how soon can someone come look at it, he starts by asking us questions, trying to troubleshoot over the phone. Yes! We could tell straight away he’s trying to save us a trip if it’s an easy fix. Let me tell you, these days you get reception and they’ll start by saying it’ll cost you $190 just to have a guy come look at. Nobody will ask you what’s the problem. I know we just spoke over the phone for 15 min. But I feel he’s trustworthy. He’s both extremely knowledgeable and friendly! We will call Matt from now on! If you live in the SE we highly recommend!

I am so glad I found Matt’s number. He came the same day and fixed the furnace. I am thankful that my family didn’t need to be in a cold house during the night.
