If your heat exchanger has cracks or leaks, we suggest that you change the furnace. Replacement of heat exchangers is not suggested as it is very costly for labor, even though It may be covered by warranty.
Although a new furnace may also come with some problems, make sure the company has an internal labor warranty and read the owner’s manual for furnace guidelines and requirements. If these requirements are not met the warranty may be voided.
The Heating Ninja’s standard coverage for a new furnace is 5 years and can go as high as 10 years.
Lifespan of furnace are 15 to 20 years. Most manufacturer warranties will only cover the first 5 to 10 years, after that the parts will start breaking down. Costly part replacements will most likely happen as time goes on. Annual service and maintenance will be suggested for older furnaces to ensure upkeep and help identify early problems.
The Heating Ninja offer’s several maintenance packages, even if we didn’t install them. All maintenance services and repairs include C0 checks and inspections of heat exchanges.
Only 40-year-old furnaces will have pilot lights. Any newer furnace will have an automatic ignition. If there is no ignition when calling for heat on your thermostat, please call a service technician.
In the simplest terms, cold spots in the house are usually the furthest away from the furnace and generally a design flaw in the HVAC duct design. Older homes with poor insulation values may also result in cold room.
To help with cold spots, the best solution is to completely re-design the duct work in the home to allow good airflow. If that is not within your budget, we can suggest a simple solution to try. Constant air flow is the key in keeping a consistent temperature throughout the house, this can be achieved by selecting the “Fan On” setting on your thermostat, and keeping it on, even in the winter. This will move air throughout the house, creating a constant temperature in all rooms to match the desired temperature on the thermostat. Although, if you have an older furnace it may not have this capability and may only have 1 setting, which may cause a rise in utility costs.
In some causes an old furnace no longer works best for the needs of the house; in this case, we would suggest a 2 stage or variable speed furnace. We would ensure that the new furnace is appropriately sized to your house and square footage. The fan settings are lower, than on older furnaces, and work off of DC power which usually do not cost much to run. Additionally, the newer fan systems are generally so quite you can barely hear them when they are running.
